Description

Patagonia, Los Glaciares National Park, Perito Moreno Glacier, El Calafate: Smart Travel Guide for Nature Lovers, Hikers, Trekkers, Photographers Patagonia, Los Glaciares National Park, Perito Moreno Glacier, El Calafate is my 6th travel guide in the "wilderness explorer" series (first was about "Peninsula Valdes" Natural Reserve, second - "Torres del Paine" National Park, third - "Tierra del Fuego" National Park, fourth - Iceland, fifth - "Landmannalaugar', Iceland), which I decided to write after I made 1x expedition to Patagonia (Argentina and Chile) and 4x expeditions to Iceland in 2015 – 2018 years. The book contains ~60 GPS coordinates of important to know places, ~60 website links, covering all the important campsites, hostels, hotels, viewpoints, ~20 hiking trails, key sightseeing, it has 2 detailed maps, and ~20 photographs I made in March-April 2017. The travel guide first describes how to get in/out the "Los Glaciares" National Park and El Calafate, all park’s updated rules and prices, then I in very detail describe ~20 different hikes in the park and around, official "Perito Moreno" Glacier hikes; ice walking hikes; Lago Roca and Cerro Cristal hikes; Estancias "La Usina", "Nibepo Aike", "Hosteria Alta Vista" and "Rio Mitre" hikes; very remote Estancia "Cristina" hikes to the 170 million years old "Fossil Canyon" and the "Upsala" Glacier view points; "Reserva Laguna Nimez" hikes - a famous bird reserve (>80 birds); "Walichu" Caves hike, where you can see ancient paleolithic (~4,000 years) paintings in sandstone rock survived till modern time. I also give all the details for wild and paid camping, hostels, food stores, roads conditions, travel scenarios, public buses, flights, prices for touristic services, paid boat tours to see glaciers, kayaking, horseback riding, countryside Patagonian lunch/dinner with grilled for 6 hours Cordero (lamb) or Asado (beef), fishing, farming recreational activities, ice walking, paleontological and archeological sites, famous "Glaciarium Patagonian Ice" Museum, city shopping, dining, commuting... etc. The book can be equally useful for "budget" adventure seekers, solo/group travelers, "fast & easy" with a rented car/campers or travel agency users as well as for paid wildlife and travel/landscape photographers on a mission.
